Season 2 introduces a brand-new Competitive-tier event type: Open Events. These run alongside Sector Qualifiers, Regional Championships, the Galactic Championship, and select convention-level events, with the name changing depending on what they're paired with — think "Sector Open" or "Galactic Open."
Consider them entry-level "super side events" that still award their own share of Qualifier Points. Each Open Event seats roughly 64 to 128 players depending on the format, and typically runs a different format than its main event, so if a Sector Qualifier is running Premier, its Sector Open will use Eternal or Limited instead.
With Open Events added to the mix, there are now even more chances to earn Qualifier Points throughout the season and it give you a second chance to get some points if you dont make into day 2
